UN CÍRCULO QUE LLEVA ABIERTO 16 AÑOS.
El pasado 4 de agosto, hace apenas 2 semanas, los neoyorquinos TEXAS IS THE REASON decían adiós para siempre después de una gira de reunión que ha saldado cuentas con una generación entera que ha mantenido vivas sus canciones gracias al único método que convierte a una banda desconocida en banda de culto: el boca a oreja.
TEXAS IS THE REASON editaron Do You Know Who You Are? en el mítico sello de hardcore Revelation Records en 1996. Fue su único disco y fue imposible de igualar por todas las bandas que compartieron espacio y tiempo con ellos. Casi 20 años después, Revelation Records reeditó el disco junto al resto de canciones de su carrera (16 canciones en total) y TEXAS IS THE REASON volvieron a la carretera. Sin embargo, Garrett Klhan nunca ha estado parado y su voz y su forma tan particular de construir canciones, a medio camino entre la luz y la oscuridad, ha podido escucharse en proyectos tan dispares como New Rising Sons (con miembros de The Promise Ring), Solea (con miembros de Samiam), Atlantic/Pacific, o el más reciente, Zena Rd.
BUENA ESPERANZA están listos para el lanzamiento de Pacifica un disco que se ha hecho esperar y que ha sido grabado por Jay Robbins (Jawbox, Office of Future Plans) y que es la figura que une a ambas bandas: Tanto TEXAS IS THE REASON como BUENA ESPERANZA decidieron ponerse en manos de Jay Robbins para grabar su primer disco.
El próximo viernes 23 de agosto, se cierra un círculo que ha permanecido 16 años abierto.

GARRETT KLAHN from TEXAS IS THE REASON. In 1996 Texas is the Reason released their only full length record Do You Know Who You Are? (Revelation Records) combining a structured balance of powerful and melodic guitars, equally measured drums, and an earnest vocal delivery closer to that found on the other side of the Atlantic. As pioneers of emocore, the band’s implosion a year later on the brink of major label success is the stuff of rock lore. Never mind the brevity, Texas is the Reason has since become imbedded in the history of emo, if not indie rock as a whole. It’s a legacy Garrett Travis Klahn (front man/guitarist) embraces without the constraints of definition.
For Klahn, the sixteen year spread between then and now has been wide, wonderful and packed with wanderlust. Through a journey of various projects—the Blues flavored New Rising Sons (ex-The Promise Ring), the hook-laden Solea (ex-Samiam), the shoe-gazing Atlantic/Pacific (ex-House and Parish), and most recently, Zena Rd.—Klahn’s musicianship has flourished. Where at the start of Texas is the Reason he could hardly play guitar, he has since evolved into a polished singer/songwriter. His simple desire for melody and a story remains an inspirational thread throughout.
This handful of solo / acoustic shows in Italy and Spain are happening on the heels of Texas is the Reasons' final ever shows here in the EU and UK. For Klahn, it's a continuing adventure equally propelled by the past and fueled by the future.
